Womens Travel Network Canada

The history, scenery, and legends of Scotland have come alive in the TV series  Outlander, based on the best-seller series by American author Diana Gabaldon. On this tour, we will experience Scotland as the home of Gabaldon’s heroes Jamie and Claire by visiting many of the sites that double as their fictional land. We’ll see the standing stones, romantic castles, and sweeping scenery that inspired the books.  As we are swept away into Jamie and Claire’s world, we’ll discover a magical mix of mountains, lochs, forests and glens, in a land steeped in fascinating history, culture and heritage.

The Isle of Arran, Scotland

The Isle of Arran, Scotland

Her on a Hill

The Isle of Arran is often described as Scotland in miniature due to its varied landscape which reflects the Scottish mainland. The island has everything from dramatic mountains to pretty seaside villages, wild moorland to lush farmland and some stunning seascapes too.  The wildlife is spectacular and it is possible to see the ‘Big 5’ (golden eagles, otters, seals, red squirrels and red deer). The island is quite large, about 10 miles by 20 miles, and we use the good bus service to do walks in different parts of the island, offering a real taste of Arran and some wonderful journeys along the coast and inland.
