Camino de Santiago, the final 100km

Her on a Hill

The Camino de Santiago is an internationally renowned walking trail with many route options from different starting points. Our chosen route covers the final 114 kilometres of the French Way through the delightful Galician hills from the lovely town of Sarria westwards to the city of Santiago de Compostela with its imposing cathedral. It is the most popular section of the trail and deservedly so. Being over 100km long, the route qualifies for the Compostela, a certificate issued to any walker who has completed at least 100km of the Way.

AN INNER PILGRIMAGE. A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

The Camino de Santiago is a route for pilgrims. But despite its religious origins, its intrigue goes far beyond the holy experience. Walking for several days on the Camino del Sol (from east to west), mixing with strangers along the same route, spending the night in places where you wouldn’t have stopped under normal circumstances, and following the same path that pilgrims have traveled for centuries, all make St. James Way a spiritual experience.

Girls Guide to Paris and Beyond

As tourists we often follow the herds. When you first go, you’ll most likely head to Barcelona or Madrid – both of which are incredible. But you haven’t seen the real Spain until you’ve ventured into awe-inspiring Andalucía. Think of white washed hillside towns, the glory and riches of Sevilla and the palace to end all palaces, Grenada’s Alhambra. Flamenco and the bullfight hail from this area. The Moors from North Africa ruled this region for 800 years and the result is a gorgeous and tantalizing mix of unique cultures and styles that is both seductive and exotic.

Sights and Soul Travels

The image of Spain is one of color, romance, passion, and the lone figure of the matador in the bull ring, cape and sword in hand beneath the burning afternoon sun. The Sights and Soul's journey through Spain explores the many aspects of this enchanted and diverse land, its history, culture and cuisines. It incorporates an in-depth exploration of SevilleCordoba and Granada with the Alhambra, while staying on Costa del Sol in southern Andalucia, then it includes touring Madrid and Toledo in central Castilla-La Mancha, followed by the beautiful city of Barcelona in eastern Catalonia, with excursions to MontserratGirona and Costa Brava.

On the Camino de Santiago

Adventures in Good Company

The Road of St James (El Camino de Santiago) has many traditions. In addition to being a pilgrimage route for Christians wanting to visit the tomb of St James, many experts believe that pre-Christian people traveled it into the setting sun to the "end of the earth". There are also Celtic traditions, Goddess traditions, even traditions having to do with the lost city of Atlantis. This intertwining of traditions is one of the most interesting aspects of the Road: there is something there for almost everyone, but not always what people expect at the outset of their journey.
