Women in Spain and Portugal

ChowFun Tours

Explore the beauty and culture of Spain and Portugal with a small group of women. We head to Spain and Portugal in May when the weather is perfectly sunny and cool. These two Iberian countries boast a plethora of art, culture, architectural marvels and amazing food! Dance Flamenco, learn how to make a Portuguese meal and ride a Segway through the narrow, cobblestone streets of Granada. Our trip takes us from the capital city of Madrid, to Granada’s Alhambra, the cobblestone streets of Sevilla’s old quarter and the  colorful neighborhoods of Lisbon.

The Camino de Santiago is an internationally renowned walking trail with many route options. Our chosen route covers the final 114 kilometres of the French Way through the delightful Galician hills from the lovely town of Sarria westwards to the city of Santiago de Compostela and its imposing cathedral. It is the most popular section of the trail and deservedly so.

The image of Spain is one of color, romance, passion, and the lone figure of the matador in the bull ring, cape and sword in hand beneath the burning afternoon sun. On the Camino de Santiago

Adventures in Good Company

The Road of St James (El Camino de Santiago) has many traditions. In addition to being a pilgrimage route for Christians wanting to visit the tomb of St James, many experts believe that pre-Christian people traveled it into the setting sun to the "end of the earth". There are also Celtic traditions, Goddess traditions, even traditions having to do with the lost city of Atlantis. This intertwining of traditions is one of the most interesting aspects of the Road: there is something there for almost everyone, but not always what people expect at the outset of their journey.

Southern Spain Villa Getaway

Todays Woman Traveller

Including Madrid, Seville, Cadiz and Cordoba: Many centuries ago, the Moors (a mix of Berbers & Arabs) crossed into Spain and settled in the southern area - which they called 'al Andalus' . A region of contrasts, Andalucía showcases a myriad mix of ancient historical influences, and today the Moorish influence is evident in the many beautiful monuments that remain. This region is also the birthplace of flamenco.
