Adventures in Good Company

The Appalachian Trail, while often rugged and remote, is designed to accommodate both people who want to hike the entire trail and those who choose to section hike it, either by backpacking or by slackpacking. The AT in Maryland follows a 40-mile route along the backbone of South Mountain, a north-south ridge that extends from Pennsylvania to the Potomac River. Hiking Lodge to Lodge on the Appalachian Trail

Adventures in Good Company

There are many ways to hike the Appalachian Trail: day hikes, slackpacking, backpacking, and hut to hut. On this trip, however, Adventures in Good Company do it in style! We'll go lodge to lodge, staying in the lovely and very different lodges that are conveniently spaced along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, while our luggage is transported by van. This part of the AT is well-graded and well-maintained, with climbs rarely exceeding 500 or 1,000 feet, so it is excellent for novice hikers and anyone who enjoys vistas and abundant wildlife.

In between we will hike some of the best parts of the Nakasendo Way, which linked the two cities during Japan's feudal period.

Paradise in Panama

Adventures in Good Company

Panama is a still hidden gem with more bird species than the entire continental USA and miles of pristine protected coastline. It receives fewer visitors than neighboring countries: thus it is possible to feel that you have truly gotten off the beaten track here. With a stable government, US currency, and diverse ecosystems Panama is both easy and exciting to explore. We'll spend nine days exploring this beautiful country, from Panama Canal to the beaches of Bocas.
